ABSTRACT

Mme Sechehaye was a psycho-analyst working in France and Switzerland. Her patient, Renée, was eighteen when they started to work together, and twenty-six when the account ends. Sechehaye was no better served by her translators than many other writers on psychological topics, so no pleasure can be got from the language of the text. There are two translations, with different titles. The quotations in this chapter come from the translation published in 1951.
