ABSTRACT

In 1925, Harry Austryn Wolfson (1887–1974), then a young professor of medieval Jewish philosophy at Harvard University, published a controversial essay, “How the Jews Will Reclaim Jesus.” It was published as an introduction to the new edition of Joseph Jacobs’ 1895 historical novel, Jesus as Others Saw Him; and it was reprinted with some revisions almost four decades later in the Menorah Journal, years after the Holocaust and the establishment of the State of Israel. 1
