ABSTRACT
At a parent teacher conference Mr. Johnson is confronted by a father who wants to know why his daughter Sandra is not using a history textbook.
“I haven’t seen her bring it home all year,” he complains, not certain whether Sandra is being lazy or whether her excuses are legitimate. “She says that you didn’t even assign them textbooks, but I fi nd that hard to believe.”
