The Letter is written in the most contrived court rhetoric, in marked contrast to the plainer style of Cyril’s other writings.
(c) The baptismal instructions, namely the Procatechesis delivered to the candidates who at the beginning of Lent had just given in their names for baptism, and eighteen Catecheses providing these same candidates with the doctrinal instruction they needed before baptism. They can be dated to about 350, either just before or just after Cyril became bishop.
