ABSTRACT

Learning takes many forms and is involved in almost everything we do or say. It is essential for survival to be able to adapt to a changing environment, and learning is our principal means for doing this. It follows that understanding how and why people behave in a particular way will often involve learning. Of course, other factors are important too, such as heredity. Indeed, to be able to learn from experience at all is itself an ability which we have inherited. As we shall see below, heredity and experience interact in shaping how we behave.
