ABSTRACT

The assessment of learning depends on the opportunities which have been offered for learning. This chapter emphasises the importance of giving children the chance to be actively involved in their own learning, and how it can be practically provided for. I hope to demonstrate the benefits of such an approach when teaching children with a wide variety of needs and abilities, through an account of a project undertaken by my school with Zoe Brooks from the Vauxhall Saint Peter's Heritage Centre in London.
