ABSTRACT
The people we meet in this chapter, Eileen, Robert, Christine, Joy, Tony, Linda and Chris, were the first post-war generation. They were born in a London that was scarred with bomb-sites and beset by shortages and were to lead lives very different from those of their parents. Rani was born in Kenya of Muslim Asian parents.
