ABSTRACT
Evaluation and accountability are currently very much to the fore in education. Yet evaluation has been going on in schools since schools first began. Teachers have always looked at what they were doing to see whether it was successful and whether they could improve on it. What is now happening is that we are trying to make evaluation a much more systematic activity which examines the work of the school in a way which covers all the activities and not simply the work of the classroom.
