ABSTRACT

Every school now has to make a statement about its aims and publish them for the benefit of parents and other interested members of the public. If the aims are to be to part of the thinking of governors and staff and to some extent that of parents and children, then there is a need to involve as many people as possible in arriving at the school’s statement of aims. They will men need to be revised on a regular basis which means further discussion. Only new schools will be concerned about articulating aims for the first time. For most schools it will be a matter of reviewing aims annually in relation to the school development plan and various policies and documents.
