ABSTRACT

The chapters in this section show how qualitative research can be undertaken in the contexts of traditional empiricist enquiry and new paradigm research. They illustrate the diversity of qualitative methods and include ethnomethodological studies of the introduction of technology into the workplace; observation of mother-infant interactions; categorisation, coding and content analysis of interview data; and discourse analysis. The section commences with a chapter on the nature of research and the paradigms which underpin this.
