In the light of the different theories of morality and moral education that we have considered in this and the previous section, it may be worthwhile to look here at how these relate generally to some themes and perspectives in the philosophy of education as such. An obvious place to start, though it is no place to end, is by considering a familiar distinction of educational philosophy which has in the course of time become rather cliched – the distinction between so-called educational traditionalism and educational progressivism.
