ABSTRACT
Just as there is no such thing as a typical magazine, so there is no single way to write for magazines. What is an appropriate style will depend on the purpose of the magazine and who its readers are. To a more limited extent this applies to newspapers, and accounts for the differences between, say, a lead news story in The Independent and the way the same story might be written for The Sun.
