ABSTRACT

The title of this chapter contains the terms experimentation and intervention. In the consultation literature and elsewhere the term intervention denotes a strategic change made in the way the consultee treats the client or the client’s environment. Ideally the change is based on theory and has been empirically validated, albeit tested in settings that are likely different in some respect from where it is being currently implemented. As a result, interventions are relatively prescriptive in that there is a protocol, and there is a demonstrated likelihood of success.
