ABSTRACT

During the dynamic test the pile does not plug, while during the Statnamic test the pile plugs. Plugging is expected during Static Test. The model describes the test results well.

Another open ended steel pile (length 11.0 m, diameter 0.4 m, and wall thickness 12 mm) was installed in a clayey soil with qc = 3 MPa (Matsumoto, Michi et al., 1995, Matsumoto, Muroi et al., 1998). This pile was tested statically after driving and by Statnamic 14 months later. Both tests showed plugging. In this case, the soil behaved undrained during the static as well as the Statnamic test. In order to derive the static bearing capacity of the test, the influence of excess pore water pressure must be taken into account.
