In July 2009, https://DrownedInSound.com" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">DrownedInSound.com, the online music magazine, posed the question, ‘is music journalism dead?’ (Adams, 2009). The article opened a discussion week on the topic, which raged around the impact of online music journalism, the closures of print magazines and depressed state of the industry as a whole. Echoing other concerns at the ‘demise’ of the profession, the debate pivots on a belief there has been a golden age of music journalism, which no longer exists.
