ST JOAN’S INTERNATIONAL ALLIANCE Founded as the Catholic Women’s Suffrage Society in 1911 to answer Catholic-based attacks on the suffrage movement, the Alliance was a strictly nonparty political and constitutional organisation. It was effectively superseded during the 1950s by its international arm, the St Joan’s International Alliance.
