ABSTRACT

Those providing bereavement support who find themselves struggling to empathize with a client whose attitudes and behaviors are challenging. It can also assist those struggling to understand the different grieving styles of close family members or friends. It may not be as effective for those in the early days of grief but may be offered in hindsight to enable sense to be made of differing grief reactions around the time of the death itself.
