ABSTRACT

The prototypes for low density housing offer three variations on the theme of a collective solar low-energy community house. The S-house, the L-house, and the Courtyard house have are different in concept, shape, and form at the level of the individual units, but each adds up to a unique community housing area. The prototypes all share the following performative criteria: adaptation to future growth and reconfiguration depending upon family and demographic changes; interchangeability of interior rooms and spaces to accommodate changing lifestyles; low energy concepts supported by roof-mounted solar array layers to generate local electricity on site; integration of infrastructural networks such as low carbon mobility systems and water retention and storage within housing areas; integration of both individual and shared community food and agricultural production.
