ABSTRACT

By investigating the political and war histories of Sierra Leone and establishing the local priorities for building long-term peace, it has been possible to analyse the model for reconstruction in terms of its efficacy and appropriateness in addressing the central concerns. As a result of this investigation, our understandings have been deepened not only in respect of the many challenges for consolidating the peace which face the local community, but also the many challenges facing the country's international partners in their endeavours to build a stable state.
