ABSTRACT

This book grew out of the seminar that I teach for the candidates of the Lacanian School of Psychoanalysis (LSP) in the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded by Andre Patsalides and a group of founding members in 1993, LSP was the fi rst school to formally transmit the practice of Lacanian psychoanalysis in the United States. The book is organized around two seminars: the 2008-2009 seminar on Lacan’s Seminar IX “On Identifi cation” and the 2009-2010 seminar on “The Ends of Analyses.” These two seminars resulted in the writing of chapters 1 and 3 respectively.
