ABSTRACT

The nuclear ambitions of the Islamic Republic of Iran have in recent years emerged as a serious challenge to international peace and security. While there is little disagreement that Iran’s acquisition of nuclear weapons in the near future would present the international community with a significant challenge, there is much less agreement upon just how this scenario would evolve, what its implications would be in the region and elsewhere, and (in particular) what should be done today in light of these possibilities.
