ABSTRACT
A school is a living, vibrant entity. For almost everyone in the developed world, school has at some stage been the centre of our lives. Each school has its own personality stamped on it, not just by one individual but by the hundreds of people who make it up ± teaching and non-teaching staff, children, parents and governors. Despite the best efforts of governments past and present and of OfSTED inspectors to require us to measure up to their expectations, and to conform to a common set of criteria, every educational establishment has its own character and its own identity.
