ABSTRACT

At Key Stage 4 vocational education has been largely delivered through GNVQ Part One at Foundation and Intermediate levels. From September 2002 the GNVQ Part One qualification is set to be replaced by Vocational GCSEs. The Vocational GCSE, or VGCSE as it will be known, will be based on the existing GNVQ Part One award. It is to be available in eight subject areas in the first instance – those for which Part One GNVQs are now available, plus Science – and includes Business, Health and Social Care, and Leisure and Tourism.
