ABSTRACT
Akhethetep, also called Hemi, was a chief justice and vizier who held many other titles usually associated with this office, such as overseer of Upper Egypt, overseer of the scribes of the king’s documents, overseer of the six great courts, overseer of the two treasuries, overseer of the two houses of gold, overseer of the two granaries, etc. Some of his titles also show close service to the king and the palace, such as he who is privy to the secrets of the house of morning, keeper of the head ornaments, confidant of his lord, beloved of his lord, one who is honoured before the king; and he held the ranks of hereditary prince, count and sole companion.
