ABSTRACT
Among the poems which particularly pleased us from their character either of simplicity or tenderness, or both, are, that from which we have made the preceding extract, ‘The Thorn,’ ‘The Mad Mother,’ ‘The Idiot Boy,’ and that with which we shall present our readers, the tale of ‘Goody Blake and Harry Gill:’ a tale founded on a well authenticated fact, which happened in Warwickshire. Dr. Darwin relates it among other curious instances of maniacal hallucination in the second volume of his Zoonomia.
