The Sun has the highest readership figures of any British national newspaper, even beating its now-closed Sunday stablemate, the News of the World, in 2010. More than 7.7 million people read the Sun on average throughout 2010. Of these, 57 per cent were men, and 56 per cent were under the age of 45. Twothirds of readers are C2DE on the social scale, reinforcing the stereotype of the Sun as the readership choice of ‘white van man’.
