ABSTRACT

This chapter gives an initial introduction to the essential principles (or key concepts) that stand behind Steiner Waldorf early-childhood education. In the chapters that follow you will find descriptions that fill out these principles and show how they are brought into practice. From this summary of what is essentially ‘Waldorf’ and the subsequent chapters, it will become apparent how these principles have been used to inspire a worldwide educational system, adaptable to many cultures, religions and settings.
