The Open University Environment course reader Energy, Resources and Environment, J. Blunden and A. Reddish (eds), co-published by Hodder and Stoughton in 1991 and revised in 1996, contains an excellent introduction to energy concepts and energy-related environmental problems. Janet Ramage’s Energy – A Guidebook (1997, Oxford University Press, Oxford) is one of the most useful general introductions to energy studies.
