ABSTRACT

This chapter starts with the remainder of the family strains discussed in Chapter 4, describing how families addressed the issue of transporting dual careers. It then goes on to discuss phases of adaptation, then the way the move affected the families studied. Several factors other than sense of coherence and family ‘co-ordination’ are discussed as they may be related to the effect of the move on the families. The rapidity with which a family draws conclusions about the new environment is discussed at the end of the chapter.
