ABSTRACT
Much of the argument in this book has been pitched at an abstract general level. This has been
necessary in order to make sense of the systems of social relations within which individuals
operate and make their choices. The purpose of this chapter is to relate the abstract
generalisations of rational choice theory to policy and practice in everyday life, via the medium
of the hegemonic discourses discussed in the previous chapter.
