ABSTRACT
In 1891 Pope Leo XIII issued an encyclical making clear that corporatism would be ‘a Christian system and a possible solution for the agitation caused by the struggle between capital and labour’ (Azpiazu 1951: 77). In 1931 Pope Pius XI issued an encyclical which followed the same line.
