ABSTRACT
The preceding chapter examined the justification for the ex-husband’s ongoing duty to support his children and the lone mother, and concluded the paternal obligation was reasonable. But the father is only one of several possible financial support avenues for the family. This chapter sets the question of spousal and family support claims in the broader context of both personal obligation and governmental strategy towards family matters.
