At some time in their career, most researchers deal with pictures, photographs and film clips. For the television researcher, it may be mainly visual – archive news clips, photographs of an ageing Hollywood actress in her heyday, a family photo, a clip from a feature film. The radio researcher may locate sound archives and film and television clips with sound tracks suitable for broadcast.
The most important consideration is that of copyright. Whatever you use, the chance is that someone somewhere owns the rights to the material.
