ABSTRACT

Once a researcher has set up filming, they usually go on location with the crew. They are responsible for ensuring everything goes well, acting in a variety of roles from gopher through to ensuring that anyone they brought on location knows what is happening and feels well cared for. They may pay expenses to contributors and ensure they sign the release (permission) forms although both of these responsibilities will be carried out by the PA if there is one on the crew. With a small crew, the researcher minds any props and special requirements such as towels and clothing. Organising the location and equipment involved is part of the pre-production schedule.
