ABSTRACT
In-patient unit clinical teams are complex systems, professionally and personally, because of the genuine multi-disciplinary nature of the teams and the intense nature of the clinical work with very disturbed children. What does it mean to manage an in-patient team? Is it possible? This chapter seeks to address these questions by introducing some concepts from current management theory, and offers examples of their application to the in-patient setting.
