ABSTRACT
In September 1963 the question of Gibraltar’s future was removed from the narrow confines of Anglo-Spanish relations and placed in the broad area of international politics when, at the request of the Spanish Government, the Colony was discussed for the first time at the United Nations by the Special Committee of 24 on the ending of colonialism. The Special Committee reached no conclusion at that time and adjourned further consideration of Gibraltar until its next session.
