ABSTRACT
The author of this signed article is doubtless Mowbray Walter Morris (1847–1911), son of Mowbray Morris (manager of The Times). He was dramatic critic on The Times, 1873–1885, and then succeeded John Morley as editor of Macmillan’s Magazine.
