ABSTRACT
Hunt (1784-1859) was at Christ's Hospital a little later than Lamb and Coleridge. He shared their interest in old authors, and their feeling that Donne is a poet of strong passions as well as intellectual brilliance. His references to Donne over many years suggest a familiarity with the poetry, though his enthusiasm for it seems to have waned.
