Craik (1798-1866), journalist and literary historian, became Professor of English Literature and History at Belfast in 1849. He gave an account of Donne's poetry in Sketches of the History of Literature and Learning in Ellgland, 1845, pp. 168-72. It was reprinted verbatim in A Compendious History of English Literature, 1861, pp. 552-6.
