ABSTRACT
This satirical essay succeeds Hunt’s previous article in the Examiner, 13 April 1817, entitled ‘Death and Funeral of the Late Mr. Southey’. Before Southey became Poet Laureate in 1813 Hunt had praised his poetry. Thereafter he attacked him for his political volte-face.
