ABSTRACT

The heartbeat of the campus might be felt in the residences and student organizations. Here we find some of the stickiest areas of student affairs. These areas “belong” to the students and teem with activity 24 hours a dayclasses are offered, lectures delivered, movies shown, and art exhibited. Yet, students do not always have the information nor the experience to wield their responsibility wisely. Unfortunately these areas can also showcase some of the negative aspects of campus life-personalities, cultures, and customs clash when people from many areas of the country and the world attempt to create a “home away from home.” Somehow, administrators and advisors must find a way to guide and educate students while allowing them freedom to make their own decisions.
