ABSTRACT

This essay, entitled The Recent Poetry of T.S. Eliot, first appeared in ‘New Writing and Daylight’ (London, 1942, pp. 84–96). It was later expanded for ‘Penguin New Writing’, no. 29 (1946), and for ‘T.S. Eliot: A Study of His Writings by Several Hands’, edited by B. Rajan (1947). It was also the origin of ‘The Art of T.S. Eliot’ (London, 1949).
