ABSTRACT
This tragedy is certainly one of the finest pieces of Shakespeare, contains some of the finest flights of the most poetic fancy, and has several characters that are marked and supported in the strongest manner. In Macbeth we see the traits of ambition opening in his mind by degrees, and forming some transitions in which Mr Garrick was peculiarly natural and great. Macbeth was originally a man of virtue, till his ambition rous’d his villany.
