ABSTRACT
Allott (1912–73), who was Assistant Editor of ‘New Verse’ from 1936 to 1939, became A.C. Bradley Professor of Modern English Literature at Liverpool University in 1964. His publications include ‘Poems’ (1938), ‘The Ventriloquist’s Doll’ (1934), ‘The Art of Graham Greene’ (1951), ‘The Penguin Book of Contemporary Verse’ (1950), and ‘Complete Poems of Matthew Arnold’ (1965).
