ABSTRACT
So far, this book has concentrated on the internal relationships between state and civil society in Africa. The competition and cooperation between these two protagonists have explained a great deal about the political process on the continent. Yet the introduction of this book identified three parties to be considered. Alongside those of the state and civil society, the influences of external interests also have to be taken into account when examining post-colonial African politics.
