ABSTRACT

This chapter analyses the logic behind the financial reforms. Further, it shows how the reformed system deviated from what was expected by the reformers and how such structure contributed to the economic boom

from 1967 to 1973. Finally, it explains how the reforms failed to create a financial structure functional for development and indicates the reason for and the consequences of such failure for the future economic and financial developments of the country.
