ABSTRACT

An exhibition called 'The Fascinating World of Stonehenge' was held in the Municipal Museum of Arnhem, Netherlands, from 26 November 1988 until 29 January 1989. It was the highlight often years of archaeological displays that were intended to popularize archaeology in general, as well as in the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands. The exhibition attracted over 50,000 visitors and received an enormous amount of publicity; it was later put on in a reduced version in the Goois Museum in Hilversum and in the Museactron in Maaseik (Belgium).
