This is a complicated area and is very much governed by the requirements of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations. Naturally you will need to think about some of the points given in Checklist No. 6, but most of the health, safety and welfare issues will need to have been made clear at a pre-contract meeting. These issues will have been discussed with the architect, the contractor, the head teacher (or her or his representative), site foreman, etc., also with any Health and Safety Representatives, the Governing Body and the Safety Committee or Group. All agreements on procedures need to be written down. It then remains for the school to monitor that these agreed procedures are followed. So:
