What parts of natural language count as parts of the language of causation? Here are four ascriptions of singular causation:
(1) The fall caused the vase to break. (2) The fall was the cause of the vase’s breaking. (3) The fall was a cause of the vase’s breaking. (4) The fall was causally relevant to the vase’s breaking.
