ABSTRACT
We like to think that even if our mental reasoning is a bit confused (perhaps by philosophers), we can rely on our senses. Or at least on the ‘raw sense data’, which our brains then interpret. But do we see things first, and then make sense of them-or do we need a visual structure even before we can begin to make sense of what we are seeing?
